- Approach route
- Primary approach via MacArthur Causeway from Downtown Miami and I-395. The causeway feeds directly onto Dodge Island. Port Boulevard loops around the island with terminal-specific turn-offs. During embark-day mornings (typically 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM), the causeway backs up — chauffeurs use the Biscayne Boulevard approach and time the crossing to avoid the peak queue.
- Drop-off procedure
- Each terminal has a designated commercial vehicle drop-off lane separate from the self-park garage entrance. Chauffeurs hold commercial port credentials and pull directly to the porter station at the assigned terminal. Luggage is transferred from vehicle to porter cart at the curb.
- Debark logistics
- Debark passengers are released by deck and color-coded luggage tags starting around 7:30 AM. CBP clearance adds 20 to 45 minutes depending on the ship size and passenger nationality mix. Chauffeurs stage in the commercial lot on the port perimeter and reposition to the terminal when the passenger texts through customs.
